First Solar and Vivint Solar appoint new CEOs

Several solar companies in the US are in the process of changing their top management including CEOs.

Greg Butterfield, chief executive officer of Vivint Solar, has resigned. The solar technology company has appointed David Bywater, COO of Vivint Smart Home, as the interim CEO. Earlier, SunEdison called off its $2.2 billion deal to acquire Vivint Solar.

First Solar said its CEO James Hughes will be leaving the solar power company on July 1, 2016. First Solar will promote CFO Mark Widmar as the new CEO. James Hughes, who has focused on cost reduction initiatives, will remain in an advisory role and on the company’s board.

SunEdison announced that John Dubel will be the chief restructuring officer of the bankrupt solar company. Dubel is currently the CEO of Dubel & Associates, a restructuring and turnaround services company.
