ET Solar in pact with TechAccess to build solar plants in Pakistan

ET Solar Energy has partnered with TechAccess to build as well as co-invest in two solar power plants totaling 21.5MW in Pind Dadan Khan Region of Punjab at Pakistan.

Out of these two projects, one will be of 10 MW and the other will be of 11.5 MW.

The grid connection is projected to be completed in the first half of 2016.

ET Solar will be the EPC/O&M provider and a minority investor, offering turnkey solutions including engineering and design, off-shore equipment supply, on-shore civil and electrical construction, project operations and maintenance.

These projects are within the first 50 MW of proposals approved in January 2014 by Alternative Energy Development Board, Pakistan, under the country’s Solar PV Tariff Determination.

Furthermore, they fall within the first batch of solar projects approved under the upfront tariff regime by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority of Pakistan.

In Dec 2014, the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif exempted customs duty and general sales tax on import of solar panels for promoting alternative and renewable energy in Pakistan.

Right now, the customs duty is applicable at five per cent and general sales tax (GST) at 17 per cent on imports of inputs as well as finished solar panels.

In another development, ET Solar Solutions along with G-Systems and Elmor will be providing turnkey EPC service to a 40 MWp PV power plant in Israel.

Located in Kibbutz Ketura, the project is jointly owned by EDF-EN and Arava Power and is expected to generate over 70,000 MW of clean energy each year.

In July 2014, ET Solar has supplied PV modules to DOMILUX Leuchten Herstellung and Vertrieb GmbH (DOMILUX), a solar developer and EPC company from Germany for a 728 kW rooftop solar power plant in Turkey.

Located in Karabuk, Turkey, the rooftop PV plant was was completed in June 2014 with ET Solar as the PV module provider.

TechAccess has plans to work closely with ET Solar to co-develop and invest in another 3X25 MW solar PV projects in the next 1-2 years.
