Carmanah to install solar PV systems for PowerStream in Ontario

Greentech Lead America: Carmanah Technologies, a global
provider of renewable and energy-efficient technologies, has received a $1.1M
(CAD) order from PowerStream to design and install two additional roof mounted
solar photovoltaic (PV) systems totaling 220kW capacity in Markham, Ontario.

The systems will be installed at Milliken Mills Community
Centre and R.J. Clatworthy Arena. These are the third and fourth contracts
awarded to Carmanah by PowerStream Inc in the Town of Markham since December
2011.

“With this latest solar install, Markham will have 1105kW
of rooftop solar projects on our facilities. We’re committed to making Markham
one of the greenest and most sustainable communities to live in North America.
Our solar projects reduce greenhouse gases and conserve energy, and they also
generate revenue through Ontario’s Feed-In Tariff program,” said Frank
Scarpitti, chair of PowerStream.

PowerStream has selected Carmanah as the Engineering
Procurement Construction (EPC) service provider on four of their Feed-In Tariff
(FIT) projects to date.

“Carmanah has the capacity to oversee multiple and
complex projects to keep up with the growing demand for rooftop PV systems in
Ontario. We are thrilled to have accomplished so many installations in Markham
and continue to grow our partnerships with these progressive municipalities and
Local Distribution Companies,” said Bruce Cousins, Carmanah CEO.
