Canadian Solar has unveiled its latest innovation, the EP Cube Lite, a grid-tied energy storage solution, at the RE+ event in Las Vegas. This launch marks an expansion of their successful EP Cube residential energy storage line and aims to make energy storage more accessible to homeowners across North America.

The EP Cube Lite is designed to lower the cost barrier to entry for homeowners looking to adopt energy storage solutions. It offers the flexibility to expand into a fully featured EP Cube system in the future, providing backup power and additional features such as electric vehicle (EV) charging via the Smart Gateway.

An exclusive EP Cube Lite launch event is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on September 12 at Booth 2516 on the RE+ show floor in Las Vegas. The event will include a presentation, a Q&A session, and an opportunity to enjoy food, drinks, and music. For those unable to attend in person, the event will also be live-streamed on Canadian Solar’s Instagram account.

The EP Cube Lite is a compact and efficient grid-tied energy storage solution, empowering homeowners to reduce their electric bills by utilizing lower-cost daytime energy during peak evening hours when rates are typically higher. This system offers scalability and customization, with capacities ranging from 6.6 kWh to 19.9 kWh. Additionally, it is compatible with most existing photovoltaic (PV) systems, allowing homeowners to tailor their energy storage to their specific needs.

Key features of the EP Cube Lite include an integrated hybrid inverter and stackable storage modules, making installation quick and efficient. Each component weighs approximately 70 lbs., enabling installation by just one or two team members in about 20 minutes. This streamlined installation process reduces costs for both installers and homeowners. The system also boasts a sleek and aesthetically pleasing design, seamlessly blending with various home styles.

“This is an important step in offering our customers new approaches to maximize their energy usage efficiency and minimize their electric bills. EP Cube Lite will encourage more people to use clean energy, enhancing their greener lifestyle, and helping create a more sustainable world,” Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar, said.

Andy Yin, General Manager of Eternalplanet, an independent energy storage brand under Canadian Solar, commented, “EP Cube Lite gives homeowners a new grid-tied energy storage solution optimized for time-of-use cost saving. The new EP Cube Lite expands the EP Cube product line, giving customers options to manage energy the way they want – for grid stability or time-of-use.”

Eternalplanet, associated with Canadian Solar, has recently been shortlisted for the 2023 Energy Storage Awards in the “Start-up of the Year” category. The launch of EP Cube Lite underscores Canadian Solar and Eternalplanet’s commitment to a more eco-friendly future, offering homeowners innovative and affordable solutions to harness clean energy.
