Ontario, Canada, -based clean energy developer Atlantic Wind and Solar is all set to begin commercial operations of a utility-scale solar project.

The company has received notice of commercial operation from the Ontario Power Authority for 137.25 kilowatt DC plant.

The plant developed by Atlantic Solar, the Canadian subsidiary of the company, comprises fixed arrays of 450 multi-crystalline modules of 305 watts each.

The company will sell the power generated by the plant to the Ontario Power Authority at 71.3 cents per Kwh for 20 years.

Atlantic has grown its portfolio to a combined installed capacity of more than 750 megawatts of utility scale projects in Canada, South America and the Caribbean.

Toward the end of April, Atlantic completed the construction of three other projects with the total capacity of 250 kilowatts at Mississauga in Ontario, Canada.

It is a $1.57-million commercial rooftop installation which sprawls over three buildings and is expected to produce 6,000 megawatt hours of power over the next 20 years. The power is being purchased under the Feed-in Tariff program of the provinces.

Earlier in April, Atlantic also received notice to proceed on a $1.2-million utility scale project at Greater Toronto Area in Ontario. The 240-KW AC project will supply power to the grid over a 20-year period.
