AEP Energy building solar power project for City of Clyde

AEP Energy, a subsidiary of American Electric Power, is developing a solar power project for the City of Clyde, Ohio.

AEP will design, build, own and operate the 3.6-megawatt solar energy array. City of Clyde has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with AEP and will offtake the entire output from the project.

The project is adequate to meet the energy requirements of the City’s 3,000 municipal customers.

Named Clyde Solar Energy Center, the project will be able to power 550 homes. The city has allocated 20 acres for the project which is expected to go into commercial operation in the first half of 2016.
