MET Development, ENI, and IREN Seek Approval for Methanol and Hydrogen Plant in Italy
MET Development (MAIRE), Eni, and Iren Ambiente have started the authorization process for a circular methanol and hydrogen plant at Eni’s refinery in Italy. The plant will use NEXTCHEM’s NX Circular technology to convert 200,000 tons of non-recyclable waste annually into synthesis gas, producing 110,000 tons of circular methanol and 1,500 tons of hydrogen. The methanol will support the maritime sector’s decarbonization, and the hydrogen can be used in refinery processes or transport. The plant will also recover 33,000 tons of inert granulate for the cement industry.
