KSEB to conduct reverse bidding to purchase 200-MW solar power

Kencot Hill solar plant

Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will conduct reverse bidding for purchase of 200 megawatts of solar power.

The process will help the state-run utility to get solar power for less than the tariff fixed by the state electricity regulatory commission for each unit of grid-connected solar power.

The state electricity regulatory commission has fixed rate per unit of solar power at Rs 7.

The power to be purchased by KSEB will go into meeting its renewable energy obligation stipulated by Central Electricity Act.

The renewable energy obligation of utilities has been increased from 0.25 percent to 0.5 percent of the total power generation of the state.
