Indian infrastructure developer Essel Infraprojects has applied for land in Sri City industrial park, Andhra Pradesh, to build a 500-megawatt solar module factory. Work on the project would be undertaken by a joint venture (JV) between Essel and JA Solar, China.
Ashok Agarwal, the CEO of Essel Infraprojects, has stated that the JV will be equally owned by both companies. He added that the proposed module fab will require investment of $200 million to develop.
JA Solar had announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Essel regarding the formation of the JV in May.
