IRIM IGMC awards

IRIM, which is involved in research, consulting and training services that support the manufacturing industry across the globe, instituted the awards to promote green manufacturing in India.

In its assessment of the manufacturing sector for the awards, IRIM has observed that Indian companies have started feeling that the risk of non-compliance for regulatory norms was now higher. It noted that 80 percent of the award-winning companies considered technology as a means for greener manufacturing and improving competitiveness. The companies also showed greater concern about factors affecting their human resources such as loyalty and relationship with neighbouring community.

The companies selected for the awards were drawn from sectors including metal and mining, healthcare, fertilizer and agro chemicals, auto and auto Ancillary and industrial equipment and engineering.

Anand Louie, the director of IRIM said: “The current government has created positive sentiments for the manufacturing sector. The Prime Minister’s pitch for Indian manufacturers to look global and his efforts to woo FDI has built confidence for companies while investing in green.”
