India Budget 2015: 1,75,000 MW renewable energy by 2022

In his first full-year budget, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely proposed increasing renewable energy capacity to 1,75,000 MW by 2022.

In another clean energy initiative, the Minister said the country will see faster adoption of electric vehicles in the coming years, propelled by a number of initiatives supporting the electric vehicles industry.

The budget has also proposed to reduce the price of LEDs and increase their manufacturing in India.

The Union Budget 2015 also proposes 5 new power projects of 4000 MW. The Kudankulam nuclear power plant second phase will be operational in 2016, the Minister said announcing the budget.
