EMASESA extends contract with Elster for electronic water meters

By
Greentech Lead Team:

Elster announced that Spanish utility company, Empresa Metropolitana de
Abastecimiento y Saneamiento de Aguas de Sevilla (EMASESA) has selected Elster
to supply Y290 electronic hybrid water meters over the next 12 months.

This
contract represents a 50 percent increase on Elster’s previous tender to
EMASESA in 2005 and is a direct result of the deployment of Y290 hybrid water
meters to support the Seville-based utility over the last six years.

EMASESA
provides water and wastewater services to over a million people in the city of
Seville and 11 additional towns, and it also supplies untreated water to 26
towns around the Seville area.

The Y290
hybrid electronic water meter provides statistical information on consumption
behaviour, customer profiles and flows. The meter is approved by the European
Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) 2004/22/EC, offers a dynamic flow range
up to R250 and is self-powered by an internal battery.

“We
have been very satisfied with the consumption data delivered by the Y290 hybrid
meter since we started working with Elster and look forward to continuing and
building on that relationship going forward,” said Camilo Veiga, meters
manager for EMASESA.

“The
innovative Y290 hybrid electronic meter has been specifically developed to
support utilities with their water management programs. The EMASESA tender
award demonstrates the growing confidence that we enjoy from Spanish utilities
and our ability to meet their requirements,” commented Pedro Egana,
regional director of Elster’s http://www.elster.com
global water business.
