ABB on Monday said it has bagged $28 million order to supply electrical Balance-of-Plant (eBoP) solution for a new independent water and power producer (IWPP) project in the United Arab Emirates.

ABB has received the deal from Hyundai Engineering & Construction, the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contractor for the project.

ABBAs part of the power order, ABB will design, supply, install and commission the new plan’s electrical system, including equipment such as generator circuit breakers, medium and low-voltage switchgear and distribution transformers.

The $1.5 billion Mirfa project — part of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 plan to diversify the economy — will increase power and water capacity in Abu Dhabi and the energy-deficient Northern Emirates. Water and power facilities will be enhanced with a new combined cycle power plant and a seawater reverse osmosis plant.

The facilities will have a power capacity of 1,600 MW and seawater desalination capacity of 240,000 cubic meters per day.
