TMEIC Opens 280,000-Square-Foot Texas Power Electronics Manufacturing Plant

TMEIC Corporation Americas has opened its 280,000-square-foot Twinwood manufacturing facility in Waller County, Texas, expanding US production of power-electronics equipment used across renewable energy and grid infrastructure. Twinwood is TMEIC’s third US manufacturing facility and the largest and most advanced among its 13 facilities worldwide. The factory will initially create more than 200 jobs, increasing to approximately 500 positions as operations scale. TMEIC develops photovoltaic inverters, large AC and DC motors, automation equipment and variable-frequency drives. The new factory itself incorporates solar generation and battery energy storage, supporting TMEIC’s target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 while expanding domestic equipment capacity.

NYC Awards Infrastructure Work for 600 New Curbside EV Chargers

Maverick Corporation will lead engineering, construction and installation for New York City’s permanent PlugNYC curbside EV-charging expansion in partnership with it’s electric. The programme will install 600 additional curbside chargers across all five boroughs over three years, replacing pilot infrastructure and creating what the partners describe as the largest municipal curbside charging buildout in the United States. The project involves NYC Department of Transportation and the New York Power Authority, with deployment focused partly on neighbourhoods with large concentrations of Taxi and Limousine Commission drivers and limited private parking. The infrastructure will support New York’s Green Rides Initiative, which requires all licensed Uber and Lyft trips to be electric or accessible by 2030.

Volvo, Daimler, Toyota and Energy Majors Target European Hydrogen Truck Scale-Up by 2030

Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Toyota, Bosch, Air Liquide, TotalEnergies, TEAL Mobility and MB Energy have outlined a coordinated strategy to accelerate hydrogen-powered heavy trucks and refuelling infrastructure across Europe by 2030. The initiative uses Germany as an initial deployment model and aims to establish an integrated value chain covering hydrogen production, distribution, refuelling infrastructure, fuel-cell technology and commercial vehicles. The partners argue hydrogen can complement battery-electric trucks for applications requiring long range, high payloads, rapid refuelling and flexible operations. Scaling the German model across Europe will require coordinated national and EU support. The announcement is notable because it aligns major truck manufacturers, technology suppliers and hydrogen-fuelling companies around a common commercialisation pathway.
