SECI and Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Plan 3 GW Floating Solar and Battery Projects by 2030
Solar Energy Corporation of India and Odisha Hydro Power Corporation have signed a binding term sheet to develop approximately 3 GW of floating solar and battery storage projects across Odisha’s reservoirs by 2030. Announced November 4, the companies plan to establish a 50:50 joint venture, with electricity offtake envisaged through GRIDCO. Odisha has an estimated 12 GW of floating solar potential, providing opportunities to use existing reservoirs for renewable electricity generation. The partnership will pursue projects under a capital expenditure investment model. The agreement also supports SECI’s objective of developing 10 GW of its own generation assets by 2030. Individual project capacities, battery durations, investment commitments and commissioning schedules remain to be finalised.
Chile Awards 17 Electricity Transmission Projects with $475 Million Reference Investment
Chile has awarded 17 electricity transmission projects through a competitive procurement process involving ten groups of infrastructure works. Results announced November 4 indicate a combined reference investment of approximately $475 million. Celeo and ENGIE secured three awards each, while Transemel, Alupar, Cox Chile and Ferrovial received one award each. The projects form part of Chile’s programme to expand and modernise electricity transmission infrastructure. Additional network capacity is important for transporting electricity from renewable-energy generation centres to major consumption areas and reducing constraints affecting solar and wind projects. The awards represent procurement decisions rather than completed construction. Individual project budgets, development schedules and commissioning dates will depend on the relevant contractual and regulatory processes.
Lightsource bp Signs Two Solar Power Purchase Agreements with Haleon in Spain Lightsource bp has signed two long-term virtual power purchase agreements with consumer healthcare company Haleon covering electricity generation from two solar projects in Spain. Announced November 4, the agreements will allow Haleon to procure renewable electricity attributes and support the decarbonisation of its European operations and supply chain. The contracts provide commercial support for solar generation while allowing Haleon to manage part of its electricity-related environmental commitments. The agreements represent a new corporate renewable-energy procurement milestone rather than the commissioning of additional generation capacity. The companies did not disclose the combined contracted capacity, annual electricity volume, electricity price or complete contract duration in the information reviewed.
European Corporate Renewable Energy PPAs Decline 9.7 Percent to 5.9 GW in 2026
European companies signed renewable electricity power purchase agreements covering approximately 5.9 GW of capacity during the first ten months of 2026, representing a 9.7 percent decline compared with the corresponding period in 2025. The figures were released November 4 during the RE-Source 2026 event in Amsterdam.
