Tata Power Renewables Commissions 100 MW Solar Project, Portfolio Reaches 12.3 GW
Tata Power Renewable Energy has commissioned a 100 MW group-captive solar project at Kayathar in Tamil Nadu, taking its utility renewable portfolio to 12.3 GW and operational capacity above 7 GW. The plant uses 261,660 Mono PERC bifacial modules and Flexible Terrain Compatible single-axis trackers. It is expected to generate 240.63 million units annually and avoid around 150,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. Power will be supplied to Tata Electronics — 53.125 MW, TP Solar — 40.625 MW, and Tata Realty — 6.25 MW. TPREL’s operational portfolio includes about 5.7 GW solar and 1.3 GW wind, while another 5.3 GW is scheduled for commissioning over the next 6–24 months.
Sunotec Starts Construction of 100 MW / 441 MWh Battery Project in Germany
Sunotec has started construction of a 100 MW / 441 MWh standalone battery energy storage system in Stendal, Saxony-Anhalt, which is set to become one of Germany’s largest BESS installations. The roughly 4.4-hour storage system reached ready-to-build status in Q2 2026, with commissioning targeted for Q1 2027. Sunotec is delivering the project as full-turnkey provider, covering engineering, installation and long-term operations and maintenance. The development originated through SECURSUN, Sunotec’s joint venture with securenergy. The official project launch took place on August 27 with around 65 representatives from government, utilities and the energy sector. The battery will strengthen Germany’s ability to absorb rising solar and wind generation while providing energy-shifting and grid-balancing capability.
Catalonia Inaugurates 300 MW Solar Cluster at Alcarràs Catalonia has inaugurated a 300 MW solar power complex in Alcarras, Spain, delivering one of the region’s largest utility-scale photovoltaic developments. The new capacity nearly doubles Catalonia’s existing ground-mounted solar capacity, representing a major step toward expanding renewable generation in a region that has historically lagged parts of Spain in utility-scale solar deployment. The clustered development demonstrates the increasing scale of photovoltaic projects being connected in northeastern Spain as regional authorities seek to accelerate clean-energy investment. A 300 MW solar complex can provide significant daytime generation, but further battery storage and grid reinforcement will be increasingly important as more variable renewable capacity enters operation. The project also gives Catalonia additional locally generated electricity as Spain continues expanding solar at both national and regional levels.
