SMA Solar Opens German Factory for Utility-Scale Inverters and Battery Systems

SMA Solar Technology has inaugurated a new factory at its Niestetal headquarters in Germany for utility-scale central inverters, battery-storage equipment and energy-management devices. The manufacturing expansion targets large photovoltaic and storage projects rather than residential systems. Central inverters convert direct-current electricity from utility-scale solar arrays into grid-compatible alternating current, while SMA’s storage equipment supports batteries increasingly paired with renewable generation. Opening the factory adds European manufacturing capacity for critical power-electronics equipment as solar and grid-scale storage deployment expands. The facility also brings multiple technologies—solar conversion, battery integration and energy management—under one manufacturing programme, providing equipment for developers building increasingly hybrid renewable-energy projects.

Gulermak Acquires 69 MW Shovel-Ready Solar Project in Poland

Gulermak Renewables has acquired a 69 MW shovel-ready photovoltaic project in Poland, adding a construction-ready solar asset to its renewable-energy portfolio. Shovel-ready status means the project has progressed through major development stages and can move toward financing, procurement and physical construction more quickly than an early-stage site. The acquisition complements Gülermak’s broader Polish renewable-energy expansion and provides another sizeable photovoltaic project in a market rapidly increasing solar generation. At 69 MW, the development represents utility-scale capacity rather than distributed generation. The transaction is distinct from financing previously reported for Gülermak’s Project Vistula portfolio and therefore represents a separate acquisition milestone involving an additional identified Polish solar asset.

XOCEAN Wins Survey Work for 1.8 GW Bellrock Floating Offshore Wind Project

Nadara has selected ocean-data specialist XOCEAN to conduct geophysical and environmental surveys along the proposed export-cable route for the 1.8 GW Bellrock floating offshore wind project in Scotland. The survey contract moves Bellrock’s grid-connection planning into field investigation, providing seabed and environmental information required to design the offshore cable corridor. At 1.8 GW, Bellrock is a major floating-wind development and will require substantial offshore transmission infrastructure to bring electricity ashore. XOCEAN specialises in marine surveying using uncrewed surface vessels, reducing the need for conventional crewed survey ships. The work will support engineering, consenting and cable-route design as Nadara advances Bellrock through development toward later construction and investment decisions.
