HitecVision Launches Lirion Power, Acquires 166 MW Wind Portfolio
Private equity firm HitecVision has launched Lirion Power, a new Nordic renewable energy platform, with the acquisition of a 166 MW operational onshore wind portfolio in Sweden. The wind assets were purchased from Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP) and include 47 turbines spread across five sites. This marks Lirion Power’s entry into the Nordic energy market and aligns with HitecVision’s strategy to build a diversified, independent power producer focused on low-carbon assets. Lirion plans to expand further in renewables, leveraging HitecVision’s energy transition expertise.
PNE and Volksbanken Win Approval for 86.4 MW Wind Farm in Germany
German renewable energy developer PNE and its partner Volksbanken Group have secured a permit for an 86.4 MW onshore wind project in Lower Saxony, Germany. The wind farm will feature 16 turbines and is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 60,000 households annually. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025. The project was developed under Germany’s Federal Immission Control Act and aligns with national goals to accelerate wind energy deployment. PNE and Volksbanken aim to invest further in community-focused renewable projects, blending regional participation with climate-friendly infrastructure.
Port of Cromarty Firth Approved for Expansion to Support Floating Wind
Scotland’s Port of Cromarty Firth has received planning approval to proceed with a major expansion to support the fast-growing floating offshore wind industry. The GBP 100 million (EUR 117m) project will create new quayside infrastructure and heavy-lift areas, enabling the port to handle large floating wind components. The expansion, led by the Opportunity Cromarty Firth consortium and supported by Highland Council, is key to positioning the port as a strategic hub for offshore wind deployment in the North Sea. Construction is expected to begin in 2025, creating hundreds of jobs and accelerating regional economic development.
