The BESS can charge when renewable generation is abundant or electricity prices are low and discharge during periods of stronger grid demand. Battery projects such as Rochdale are increasingly important as the UK adds more offshore wind and solar capacity and experiences larger swings in renewable output. Masdar has been expanding its European renewable and storage presence alongside major investments in offshore wind and utility-scale clean energy.
