Fonterra Signs Solar PPA for 80 percent of Output from 110 MW Karioi Project in New Zealand

New Zealand dairy cooperative Fonterra has signed a second long-term virtual power purchase agreement with Anza Power, covering 80 percent of electricity generated by the planned 110 MWac Karioi Solar Farm. The project is located near Tangiwai in the Ruapehu District and will connect to Transpower’s Tangiwai substation. Annual electricity generation is estimated at approximately 215,000 MWh. Anza Power is backed by infrastructure investment manager I Squared Capital. The new contract follows Fonterra’s earlier agreement covering electricity from Anza’s 42 MWdc Somerton Solar Farm in Canterbury. The Karioi agreement provides contracted revenue supporting project financing and construction preparations. Financial terms and the expected commissioning date were not disclosed.

Sunovis and Statkraft Sign PPA for 181.9 MWp Solar and 244 MWh Storage in Germany

German solar developer Sunovis has signed a long-term hybrid power purchase agreement with Statkraft covering two solar-plus-storage projects in Germany. The facilities have combined photovoltaic capacity of 181.9 MWp and battery storage capacity of 61 MW/244 MWh. The agreement covers the ABS project in Saxony-Anhalt and the Harnekop project in Brandenburg. Both are being developed without public investment subsidies. Commissioning is expected between late 2026 and October 2027. Statkraft will manage electricity offtake and market optimisation. Initial operations will use market-based revenue sharing, followed by fixed-price electricity arrangements covering a substantial share of generation through 2037. Financial consideration and individual project investment costs were not disclosed.

Galileo Secures Grid Access for 135 MW Renewable Projects, Raising Spanish Portfolio to 825 MW

Swiss renewable-energy developer Galileo Green Energy has obtained grid access and connection approvals for an additional 135 MW of renewable-energy projects in Spain. Its total grid-secured portfolio now stands at 825 MW, comprising 500 MW of battery storage, 200 MW of onshore wind and 125 MW of hybrid solar capacity. The company has also secured environmental approvals for another 75 MW of battery projects, increasing environmentally approved storage capacity to 215 MW. Galileo’s wider Spanish development pipeline totals approximately 1.4 GW, with another 1.4 GW associated with future capacity procurement opportunities. Across Europe, the developer reports approximately 17 GW of solar, wind and storage projects under development. Investment values and construction schedules were not disclosed.
