RWE Completes Monopile Installation at 1.1 GW Thor Offshore Wind Farm

RWE has finished installing all 72 monopile foundations at its 1.1 GW Thor offshore wind farm, located in the Danish North Sea. The milestone was achieved with the support of offshore contractor DEME, marking a key step toward full project delivery. Thor is Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm to date and will supply green power to more than one million Danish households once fully operational in 2027. The project highlights RWE’s investment in large-scale renewable infrastructure and innovation in offshore engineering. With a focus on sustainability, the development aims to support Denmark’s 2030 climate targets while enhancing energy security. The successful monopile completion keeps the project on schedule for turbine installation and commissioning in the coming years.

Energiequelle Resumes Construction at 102 MW Mikonkeita Wind Farm in Finland

German renewables developer Energiequelle has resumed construction at its 102 MW Mikonkeita wind farm in Finland after a temporary pause. Located in the municipality of Kristiinankaupunki, the project will feature 17 wind turbines supplied by Vestas, each with a capacity of 6 MW. Once operational, Mikonkeita will generate clean energy sufficient to power around 60,000 households annually, strengthening Finland’s renewable energy capacity. The restart underlines Energiequelle’s strategy of investing in Northern European wind markets while ensuring timely project delivery. With strong technology partnerships and a focus on local energy transition goals, the project supports both carbon reduction and energy security. Turbine installation is scheduled to progress steadily, with commissioning expected in 2026.

BW ESS to Sell Stake in 700 MW UK Battery Portfolio to AIP

BW ESS, the battery storage arm of BW Group, has agreed to sell a minority stake in its 700 MW UK battery energy storage portfolio to Danish infrastructure investor AIP Management. The portfolio comprises six large-scale battery projects, aimed at strengthening grid flexibility and supporting renewable integration across the UK. This partnership will provide BW ESS with additional capital to accelerate the buildout of advanced storage assets, aligning with its strategy to scale sustainable infrastructure. AIP’s investment highlights growing institutional interest in UK’s energy storage market, which is critical for balancing intermittent solar and wind power. The collaboration promises innovation in project financing, long-term value creation, and enhanced energy security for customers and communities.
