Nordex Secures 35 MW Wind Turbine Order for Frettertal Project in Germany

Nordex Group has secured a 35 MW wind turbine order from STAWAG Energie for the Frettertal wind farm in Finnentrop, Germany, supporting expansion of renewable energy in the Sauerland region. The project will feature five N163/6.X turbines with 164-metre hub heights, optimized for complex terrain with valleys and ridges to maximize energy yield. The deal includes a 20-year Premium Service contract, ensuring long-term performance and operational reliability. Installation is scheduled for summer 2027, with commissioning planned for early 2028. This project highlights investment in advanced wind technology and supports Germany’s strategy to unlock wind potential in underdeveloped regions and accelerate its clean energy transition.

Zambia Launches 300 MW Solar PV Tender Under CFIP Programme to Boost Renewable Energy

Zambia has opened a call for proposals for up to 300 MW of grid-connected solar PV projects under its Carbon Feed-In Premium (CFIP) programme, accelerating investment in clean energy. The initiative invites local and international IPPs, utility ZESCO, and other stakeholders, with a submission deadline of May 31, 2026. The programme emphasizes innovation and reliability, requiring projects between 30 MW and 100 MW to include battery energy storage systems with at least 30-minute duration. At least 50 percent of generated power must be supplied to ZESCO. This strategic move supports Zambia’s renewable energy transition, strengthens energy security, and promotes sustainable, low-carbon power development across the region.

InfraVia Launches Supernova Power to Expand UK Battery Storage and Flexible Generation Capacity

InfraVia Capital Partners has created Supernova Power, a new UK-based flexible energy platform, following acquisitions of Balance Power and Mercia Power Response. The move represents a major investment in battery energy storage and flexible generation to support the UK’s energy transition. Supernova Power combines Balance Power’s 1.4 GW battery storage pipeline with Mercia’s 262 MW operational assets and 400 MW development pipeline. The platform aims to scale beyond 2 GW by 2035 through strategic growth and acquisitions. This initiative highlights innovation in grid flexibility, enabling greater renewable integration, improving energy security, and accelerating the shift toward a resilient, low-carbon electricity system in the UK.
