Today’s renewable energy news includes updates from Grenergy, PowerX, Zendure, among others.
Grenergy Secures USD 268m Financing for Chile Solar and Storage Hybrid
Grenergy has secured USD 268 million in senior debt financing for its Monte Águila hybrid solar and battery storage project in Chile. The project will combine 340MW of solar generation with 1,034MWh of battery energy storage capacity as part of the company’s broader Central Oasis platform. The non-recourse financing was arranged through a banking consortium led by BNP Paribas, alongside KfW IPEX-Bank, Rabobank, Natixis and Scotiabank. Located in El Cabrero in Chile’s Biobío region, the hybrid facility is expected to begin operations in early 2027. Part of the project’s output is secured under a 12-year daytime power purchase agreement, while additional energy will be marketed through Grenergy’s trading subsidiary GR Power. Monte Águila forms part of Grenergy’s Central Oasis platform, which targets 1.1GW of solar capacity and 4GWh of battery storage with total planned investment of around USD 900 million. The initiative follows the hybrid solar-plus-storage model pioneered through the company’s Oasis de Atacama platform, one of Latin America’s largest battery storage developments. The financing highlights continued investment and innovation in hybrid renewable infrastructure, supporting grid flexibility, renewable integration and long-term energy security as Chile accelerates large-scale solar and battery deployment.
PowerX Targets 500MWh Battery Storage Rollout in Montenegro
PowerX has signed a memorandum of understanding with Montenegro’s national utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) to deploy approximately 500MWh of battery energy storage systems over the next three years. The partnership is aimed at supporting large-scale renewable integration and strengthening grid stability across Montenegro. Under the agreement, the companies will jointly evaluate battery deployment plans focused on grid reliability, peak shaving and frequency regulation services. PowerX will also explore the possibility of establishing local battery assembly operations in Montenegro, expanding its footprint into the European energy storage market. The initiative aligns with Montenegro’s National Energy and Climate Plan, which targets more than 50% renewable energy in final energy consumption by 2030. EPCG has increasingly prioritised battery storage as part of grid modernisation efforts amid growing solar and wind deployment in the Balkans region. The partnership highlights rising investment and innovation in European battery infrastructure, with storage systems becoming critical for renewable integration, grid flexibility and long-term energy security.
Zendure Launches PowerHub Smart Home Energy Management Platform
Zendure has launched the PowerHub, a new central control unit for its SolarFlow Mix series designed to integrate solar generation, battery storage, backup power and smart home energy management into a unified residential energy ecosystem. The PowerHub enables scalable home energy storage configurations starting from 8kWh and expanding up to 150kWh in multi-unit systems. The platform supports up to 43kW of three-phase solar input and 12kW of battery output, making it compatible with both residential and small commercial renewable energy systems. The system operates on Zendure’s ZEN+OS platform powered by ZENKI AI, which analyses household consumption patterns, weather conditions and electricity pricing to optimise energy storage and usage in real time. The platform also integrates with EV charging stations, heat pumps and smart home systems using standards including EEBus, OCPP and SG-Ready compatibility. PowerHub includes backup power functionality with black-start capability and supports participation in virtual power plant (VPP) networks, helping improve grid flexibility and enabling potential energy trading opportunities. Zendure said the solution is intended to increase self-consumption, reduce grid dependence and lower household energy costs. The PowerHub is expected to launch in Europe in July 2026 with a starting price of €719 in France for the single-phase version.
