Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on China’s largest electrochemical energy storage project, Enfinity, Ocean Winds, Orlen Neptun, among others.

China’s Largest Electrochemical Energy Storage Project Begins Electrical Commissioning

China’s largest electrochemical energy storage project, 600MW/2400MWh, has completed installation and entered the electrical commissioning phase. It is China’s first ultra-high voltage transmission project integrating wind, solar, thermal, and storage. The site includes 240 battery containers and 60 PCS skids. Once operational, it will integrate 840 GWh of renewable energy into the grid annually. A single charge stores 2.4 GWh, meeting the daily electricity needs of 480,000 households or powering 36,000 EVs with a 500km range. SINEXCEL has deployed over 12GW of storage capacity across 40 countries

Enfinity Global Signs PPAs for 420 MW of Renewable Energy in Italy

Enfinity Global has signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in Italy with a U.S. technology company. The agreements cover 420 MW of solar photovoltaic projects. Enfinity Global aims to support customers in their energy transition. The company has a portfolio of 35.5 GW of renewable energy and storage projects, with 37 GW under negotiation in the U.S. It has offices in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and India. Enfinity Global has signed 805 MW of solar PPAs in Italy over the past two years and is the leading independent power producer in the country

Ocean Winds Begins Assembly of First EFGL Floating Wind Turbine

The assembly of the first floating wind turbine for the Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion project has started at Port-la-Nouvelle. The project includes three 10 MW wind turbines, making them the most powerful floating units installed in France. The first float was towed from Grand Port Maritime de Marseille to the assembly site, where components such as the mast, nacelle, and blades will be installed. Once completed, the turbines will be transferred to the sea in June. The project is coordinated by Ocean Winds, with support from Euroports, Mammoet, and Vestas.

Orlen Opens Poland’s First Offshore Wind Farm Installation Terminal

Orlen Neptun has launched an offshore wind farm installation terminal in Świnoujście, the first facility of its kind in Poland. The terminal will support the installation of several dozen wind turbines per year and will be available to external operators. Orlen Neptun has signed a long-term contract with Ocean Winds, a Spanish-French consortium. The terminal is designed to accommodate large vessels for unloading and storing wind farm components. It will primarily support Orlen Group’s offshore wind projects and will also serve projects in German, Swedish, and Danish waters

Atlantic Shores Moves to Terminate New Jersey Offshore Wind Agreement

Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind has filed to terminate its 1.5-GW offshore wind project in New Jersey. The company cited regulatory, permitting, and federal policy challenges as reasons for the decision. The project, a partnership between Shell New Energies US LLC and EDF Renewables North America, faced setbacks including the cancellation of a key air permit and paused construction. Despite Shell pulling out of Atlantic Shores 1 in January, it remains a partner in the overall organization. The project was expected to provide 1.5 GW of power off the coast of Atlantic City
