EDF Unveils 150MW Nant y Maen Wind Farm Proposal in Wales

EDF Power Solutions has announced plans to develop the 150MW Nant y Maen onshore wind farm in Ceredigion, Wales, a project capable of generating enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of 146,000 UK households. The company has commenced environmental impact assessment studies, supported by Dulas and BSG Ecology, to ensure responsible and sustainable project development. The proposed wind farm highlights innovation in large-scale renewable energy generation while strengthening the UK’s energy resilience and decarbonisation efforts. Customer-focused benefits include increased access to clean electricity, improved energy security, and reduced carbon emissions. EDF has also prioritized local economic development, already engaging Welsh businesses and planning for long-term operations and maintenance management through its Aberystwyth service centre. Early ecological studies, wind resource assessments, and public consultations are underway, demonstrating EDF’s commitment to community engagement and sustainable growth while supporting local jobs and investment across Wales.

Vestas Secures 95MW Wind Turbine Orders Across Germany and the UK

Vestas has won new wind turbine contracts totaling 95MW across Germany and the UK, reinforcing its strong position in the European renewable energy market. The German project, awarded by Raiffeisen Windpark Saterland, includes seven advanced V162-7.2MW turbines delivering 50MW of capacity, while the UK order comprises ten V136-4.5MW turbines for a 45MW project. Both agreements include comprehensive 20-year AOM 5000 service contracts, ensuring long-term operational reliability and performance optimization. The projects showcase innovation in high-efficiency wind turbine technology, designed to maximize energy output while reducing lifecycle costs. Customer-focused benefits include improved renewable energy generation, predictable maintenance support, enhanced asset performance, and greater energy security. Deliveries for the UK project are scheduled to begin in early 2027, while the German project will commence deliveries in the second quarter of 2027. These investments further support Europe’s clean energy transition, carbon reduction goals, and sustainable power infrastructure growth.

FairWind Wins Statkraft O&M Contract for Spanish Wind Farms

FairWind has secured a 2.5-year operations and maintenance (O&M) contract from Statkraft for the La Herrería and Pasada de Tejeda onshore wind farms in Tarifa, Spain. The agreement covers 34 Ecotecnia 1.6MW turbines that have been operating for more than 20 years and generate approximately 120.3GWh of renewable electricity annually, enough to power around 34,500 homes. The contract includes preventative maintenance, major corrective repairs, and day-to-day operational support through permanent on-site technicians. The project highlights innovation in wind asset life-extension strategies, helping maximize the performance and reliability of first-generation turbines beyond their original design lifespan. Customer-focused benefits include improved turbine availability, enhanced operational efficiency, reduced downtime, and continued delivery of clean electricity. The contract marks FairWind’s first long-term O&M agreement and its first collaboration with Statkraft, reflecting growing demand for specialized maintenance expertise as aging wind fleets across Europe require advanced support to sustain renewable energy generation and long-term asset value.
