Today’s renewable energy news includes updates from Centrica, Push Power, Enviromena, Vestas, among others.
Centrica and Push Power Commission 18-MW Rolleston Solar Farm in the UK
Centrica and Push Power have successfully commissioned the 18-MW Rolleston Solar Farm in Burton-on-Trent, marking another milestone in their long-term renewable energy partnership. Spanning approximately 70 acres and featuring more than 29,000 solar panels, the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power around 6,200 UK homes annually. The development showcases innovation in utility-scale solar deployment, utilizing optimized solar design and engineering to maximize energy production and operational efficiency. A key customer benefit is the delivery of clean, secure, and affordable electricity while supporting the UK’s transition to a low-carbon energy system. The project strengthens Centrica’s growing portfolio of renewable and flexible energy assets, complementing previous investments in solar and battery storage. It also meets important sustainability and investment criteria by reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy security, and delivering stable long-term returns. The Rolleston Solar Farm reinforces both companies’ commitment to accelerating renewable energy adoption, supporting net-zero targets, and creating long-term value for customers, communities, and investors.
Enviromena Acquires 26-MWp Duxhurst Solar Farm to Strengthen UK Renewable Energy Growth
Enviromena has acquired the 26-MWp Duxhurst Solar Farm in Surrey from Luminous Energy, expanding its UK renewable energy portfolio with a construction-ready asset backed by a Contract for Difference (CfD) secured in the UK’s Allocation Round 6 (AR6) scheme. The project is forecast to generate more than 26,500 MWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power over 9,800 homes, while preventing approximately 4,600 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. Expected to be energized in summer 2027, the solar farm highlights innovation in utility-scale renewable energy development and supports the UK’s transition to a low-carbon economy. The acquisition aligns with Enviromena’s investment criteria of securing high-quality, revenue-backed renewable assets that deliver long-term value for investors and customers. Supported by £1 billion in financing and a 1-GW solar development pipeline, Enviromena continues to accelerate renewable energy deployment, enhance energy security, and expand access to sustainable electricity. The project demonstrates strong customer and environmental benefits while reinforcing confidence in the UK solar sector and its long-term decarbonization goals.
Vestas Secures 40-MW Wind Turbine Order for German Onshore Wind Project
Vestas has secured a 40-MW wind turbine order for the Reken Hülsterholt onshore wind project in Germany, further strengthening its position in one of Europe’s most active renewable energy markets. The contract was awarded by EnergieGemeinschaft Hülsterholt GmbH & Co. KG and BBWind Projektberatungsgesellschaft mbH. The project will feature six advanced Vestas turbines, including four V172-7.2 MW turbines and two V162-5.6 MW turbines, demonstrating the company’s latest innovation in high-efficiency wind technology designed to maximize energy output and project performance. The order also includes a 20-year AOM 5000 service agreement, ensuring long-term operational reliability and optimized energy production. Turbine deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2027. The project will generate clean electricity, support Germany’s renewable energy expansion, and contribute to national decarbonization targets. By combining advanced turbine technology with long-term service support, the project delivers enhanced value, energy security, and sustainability benefits for customers, investors, and local communities.
