Quaise Energy and Nevada Gold Mines partner on deep geothermal pilot plant

Quaise Energy, a provider of geothermal energy, and Barrick-operated Nevada Gold Mines (NGM), a joint venture with Newmont Corporation, are exploring ways to reduce carbon emissions at NGM’s TS Power Plant by using geothermal heat from NGM’s land for power generation.

The partnership underscores how deep geothermal can reduce carbon emissions in mining and is the first pilot for converting a fossil fuel power plant to use geothermal heat. This supports NGM’s 2030 GHG reduction goals.

SLB Capturi constructs the world’s first industrial-scale carbon capture plant

SLB Capturi, a provider of carbon capture solutions, has completed the mechanical construction of the carbon capture plant at Heidelberg Materials’ cement facility in Brevik, Norway.

The full-scale carbon capture plant, including the carbon capture system, compression system, heat integration system, intermediate storage, and loadout facilities, is now complete and ready for testing and commissioning. Once operational, this commercial-scale carbon capture plant at thecement facility will produce net-zero cement without affecting product strength or quality.

Nel ASA Receives another 10 MW purchase order from Samsung C&T

Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser, a provider of hydrogen technology and subsidiary of Nel ASA, has signed a Euro 5 million contract with Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering & Construction Group for 10 MW of alkaline electrolyser equipment. The equipment will be used for Samsung C&T’s first pilot nuclear-connected (pink) hydrogen production plant.

The contract aims to produce hydrogen using excess nuclear power, allowing the use of energy that would otherwise be wasted during periods of oversupply, thus increasing overall energy efficiency
