Volvo Trucks has signed an agreement with global logistics giant DSV for the delivery of 300 electric heavy trucks. This deal represents one of the largest commercial orders for Volvo’s electric trucks to date and positions DSV as one of the leading companies in Europe with a substantial fleet of heavy electric vehicles.
DSV, a global leader in transport and logistics, operates a fleet of over 20,000 trucks daily, transporting goods across the globe. As part of its ambitious sustainability goals, DSV is planning to integrate 2,000 electric trucks into its operations by 2030. The new order of 300 electric trucks from Volvo Trucks will be a significant step in this direction, making DSV’s fleet one of the largest in Europe with zero-exhaust emission vehicles.
In addition to the electric trucks, the agreement also includes the delivery of 500 Volvo trucks with highly fuel-efficient diesel and gas drivelines. These trucks are scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2026, further strengthening DSV’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, said: “This order is a testament to DSV’s trust in Volvo Trucks and proves that zero-exhaust emissions transport is a viable solution today.”
Soren Schmidt, CEO of DSV Road, said: “This agreement with Volvo is a fantastic example of how new technologies can be scaled up to become more accessible for our customers. This deal is an important step towards a more sustainable future in trucking.”
The trucks being supplied to DSV will include the new Volvo FH Aero Electric model, which boasts enhanced aerodynamics for increased energy efficiency. DSV, already a major transporter for the Volvo Group, has been using Volvo electric trucks in Sweden and Denmark, supported by a robust charging infrastructure powered by solar panels at its distribution centers.
Both DSV and Volvo Group are committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative, which aims to align corporate strategies with the goals of the Paris Agreement. This partnership further underscores their commitment to ambitious climate action.
Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has delivered over 3,800 electric trucks to customers in 46 countries, offering the industry’s broadest lineup of fully electric models. These trucks have collectively driven over 90 million kilometers, equivalent to 2,200 laps around the world.
