Tesla hikes price of its Model Y electric vehicle

Tesla increased the U.S. price of its Model Y electric vehicle on Tuesday, according to its website.

The company raised the price by $250 to $47,740 for this variant.

Tesla has remained the passenger EV market leader in 2022 with more than 50 percent market share.

Tesla has sold more EV cars than the other 17 automotive groups combined. Tesla is dominating the US EV market while other automotive giants like Ford, General Motors, Stellantis, Volkswagen and Hyundai are struggling to provide strong competition.

In 2023, EV sales are expected to reach over 1.9 million units, according to Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
