Simon, retail real estate industry player and NRG eVgo has announced the installation of new EV fast-charging Freedom Stations that can recharge vehicles in 30 minutes at four Northern California Simon shopping centers: Vacaville Premium Outlets, Livermore Premium Outlets, Great Mall and Petaluma Village Premium Outlets.
Integrating latest EV charging stations to the network of shopping centers in Northern California during National Drive Electric Week is an appropriate effort, said, Mark Silvestri, COO, Simon Premium Outlets.
Recently, the number of plug-in EVs on California roads topped 100,000. The NRG eVgo Freedom Station sites at selected outlets have enabled the expansion of charging network for the growing number of vehicles, said Terry O’Day, VP, NRG eVgo.
This partnership also connects Sacramento to the Bay Area along the NRG eVgo network, making it easier for Californians to prefer electric.
The Great Mall and Petaluma Village Premium Outlets’ Freedom Station sites were opened in last month while the Vacaville Premium Outlets’ and Livermore Premium Outlets’ Freedom Station sites were opened earlier this year.
Besides, the eVgo Freedom Station sites will offer both current and future charging technology, serving drivers’ on-the-go charging needs regardless of what kind of electric vehicle they drive.
Currently, all Freedom Station sites include CHAdeMO DC fast chargers that can charge an electric vehicle in less than 30 minutes, as well as regular standard Level 2 chargers.
By combining SAE Combo DC fast chargers, eVgo further supports all EV drivers whatever they drive and however they choose to charge.
eVgo is building a network of more than 200 Freedom Station fast-charging sites as well as the infrastructure to support Level 2 charging at multi-family residences and workplaces throughout the state of California.
Simon advocates energy management and sustainability practices, including initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Their sustainability strategy also includes supporting energy conscious consumers.
