Burbank Police Dept buys Zero DSP electric motorcycles

The Burbank Police Department has purchased police motorcycles from Zero to add to its patrol fleet.

Zero has developed the Zero SP, Zero DSP and new Zero FXP models to be used by law enforcement and security agencies.

Burbank Police Department selected the Zero DSP motorcycle for its low cost of operation, easy maintenance, and minimal environmental impact, which are powered by the 100 percent electric Z-Force motor.

The integration of the dual purpose electric motorcycles will provide the Burbank Police Department with the ability to expand its existing enforcement efforts, which will improve the level of service provided to the community, Jay Hawver, Burbank Police Department Traffic Bureau.

The department is looking for opportunities to introduce new technology when practical and applicable. The addition of the new electric motorcycles will put the City of Burbank out in front of partner law enforcement agencies as a pioneer in the implementation of this new and exciting technology, he added.

The motorcycles will be driven on city streets and off-road areas. The dual sport capability of the Zero DSP will be useful in patrolling areas, allowing officers quick access where previously only helicopters have operated.

These motorcycles are engineered based upon direct feedback from patrol officers. The law enforcement and security agencies are thrilled that the Burbank Police Department will be using Zero police motorcycles in their fleet, said, Kevin Hartman, sales director, Zero Motorcycles.

The delivery of the motorcycles was arranged through its local dealer, Hollywood Electrics.

Zero police motorcycles are fully electric and designed exclusively for security departments as a cost effective means to patrol a wide variety of terrain with noise and pollution limitations, including indoors.

Patrol models are equipped with pursuit emergency lighting and sirens, safety components, and functional storage options to carry gear, patrol items, and emergency medical equipment.

In addition to the Burbank Police Department, Zero works directly with over 30 international, national and local law enforcement, security and military agencies to expand their motorcycle fleets and integrate the use of Zero Motorcycles.
