ABM, a provider of facility solutions, announced it has been selected by BMW of North America as its preferred electric vehicle (EV) charging station installation and service partner for its BMW i Centers across the United States and for BMW i Retailers across Canada.
Each of the charging stations will be part of the ChargePoint network. BMW will release the company’s first full production, all-electric vehicle, the BMW i3, in early 2014, with the BMW i8 to follow later in the year.
ABM will provide installations and BMW i branded ChargePoint charging stations for participating BMW i Centers across the United States and Canada, and will serve as BMW’s preferred service provider for these charging stations.
In all, ABM will support over 300 participating BMW i Centers. To date, ABM has sold and/or installed over 700 commercial, public and workplace EV charging stations across the United States.
The EV charging stations at each BMW i Center will be part of the ChargePoint Network, the largest and most open EV charging network in the world, with more than 14,000 charging locations.
Pat Romano, CEO of ChargePoint, said, “This latest partnership will help grow the public charging network for all EV drivers and give potential car buyers the confidence that they can plug-in on the go.”
Through the use of the ChargePoint Network, drivers will also have access to a mobile app that provides EV drivers with real-time information, including availability of charging locations across the country.
