Onde Selected for PLN 129.8 Million Battery Storage Construction Contracts in Poland

Polish renewable-energy engineering company Onde has been selected to execute construction works for two battery energy storage projects in Poland. The company disclosed the selection October 30. The offers have a combined net value of approximately PLN 129.8 million. The private procurement process was organised by a Polish project company belonging to an unnamed renewable-energy investor. The selection represents a new contracting opportunity for Onde’s battery storage construction business. Final execution remains subject to the relevant contractual arrangements. The company has not disclosed the projects’ individual capacities, storage durations, equipment suppliers or commissioning schedules. These selections are separate from Onde’s previously announced contract for a 300 MW battery project.

UK Approves 2 GW Sea Link Transmission Project Between Suffolk and Kent

The UK government has granted development consent for National Grid’s 2 GW Sea Link electricity transmission project, connecting Suffolk and Kent through a high-voltage direct-current system. The approval was issued October 30. The development will extend approximately 138 kilometres, including around 122 kilometres of subsea cable. The project will help transport electricity from generation centres in eastern England and reduce transmission constraints around London and the Thames Estuary. Sumitomo Electric will manufacture subsea cable at its facility in Scotland. Construction is expected to begin in early 2027, with completion targeted for 2031. The project’s final regulated cost allowance remains under review, with Ofgem considering expenditure approaching £2.9 billion.

National Grid Plans £400 Million Investment to Extend 2 GW UK-France Electricity Link Until 2050

National Grid plans to invest up to £400 million to extend the operating life of the 2 GW Interconnexion France-Angleterre electricity link until at least 2050. Announced October 29, the programme will modernise equipment, buildings and supporting infrastructure at the interconnector’s converter stations. The transmission link is jointly owned by National Grid and French transmission operator RTE. Commissioned in 1986, the infrastructure enables electricity trading between Britain and France in both directions. Its capacity is equivalent to the electricity requirements of approximately 3 million British households. The investment focuses on upgrading existing infrastructure rather than constructing a new subsea connection. The programme supports cross-border electricity flexibility and renewable-energy integration.
