Genneia Opens $110 Million, 129 MW San Juan Sur Solar Farm in Argentina

Argentine renewable-energy developer Genneia has inaugurated the 129 MW San Juan Sur solar farm, developed with an investment of approximately $110 million. The project is located in Retamito, Sarmiento department, San Juan province. It comprises approximately 250,000 bifacial solar modules installed across 500 hectares. Electricity will be supplied primarily to industrial and mining customers through Argentina’s renewable-energy term market. The new facility increases Genneia’s operational solar capacity in San Juan to approximately 350 MW. It is the company’s fourth solar project in the province and seventh in the Cuyo region. The facility is expected to generate approximately 374 GWh annually, supporting renewable electricity supply for large commercial consumers.

EDF Seeks Environmental Approval for 420 MW Wind Farm and 800 MWh Battery Storage in Australia

EDF Power Solutions Australia has submitted its Balala Wind Farm and Battery Energy Storage Project for federal environmental assessment. The proposed development combines 420 MW of wind generation with a 200 MW/800 MWh battery storage system near Uralla in New South Wales. The project would include 60 wind turbines across approximately 9,765 hectares within the New England Renewable Energy Zone. Construction is provisionally planned for 2030, with an estimated construction period of 30 months. Electricity would enter the National Electricity Market through existing or planned transmission infrastructure. EDF estimates annual generation sufficient for approximately 150,000 homes. Public comments on the environmental referral are accepted until October 20, 2026.

Orbital Marine Power Secures European Commission Approval for 9.6 MW Tidal Energy Array in Scotland

UK tidal technology developer Orbital Marine Power has received European Commission clearance to advance construction of the 9.6 MW EURO-TIDES project at the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney, Scotland. The project will comprise four tidal turbines, including three next-generation O2-X machines and one existing O2 turbine. The connected array is expected to generate electricity equivalent to the requirements of approximately 9,200 homes. The development is supported through the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme. Partners include EMEC, ENGIE Laborelec, the University of Edinburgh and several European research organisations. Deployment is targeted for 2028, subject to completion of Orbital’s current investment round and remaining implementation requirements.
