Grenergy Signs 1.5GWh Battery Supply Deal with CATL for Spanish Projects
Grenergy has signed a strategic agreement with CATL to supply 1.5GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for two major renewable energy projects in Spain. The investment includes 252 CATL TENER S lithium iron phosphate battery units for the Oviedo standalone storage project and the Escuderos hybrid solar-plus-storage facility. The partnership highlights growing innovation in large-scale battery storage technology designed to improve renewable energy integration, grid stability, and energy efficiency. The projects support Spain’s clean energy transition by enabling better management of solar power generation and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources. Grenergy continues expanding its global storage portfolio through advanced hybrid renewable infrastructure and strategic international collaborations. The customer-focused investment strengthens long-term energy reliability, sustainability, and flexible power supply solutions for evolving European energy markets.
Akaysha Energy Selects Hitachi Energy for 155MW Australian Battery Project
Akaysha Energy has signed a 20-year service agreement with Hitachi Energy to support the 155MW/298MWh Ulinda Park battery energy storage system (BESS) in Queensland, Australia. The project uses Hitachi Energy’s AI-enabled HMAX Energy platform to deliver advanced monitoring, predictive maintenance, and operational optimisation for one of Queensland’s largest battery storage facilities. The investment strengthens Australia’s renewable energy infrastructure by improving grid stability, enabling energy shifting, and supporting Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS) within the National Electricity Market. The innovative digital service solution combines IoT connectivity, real-time analytics, and 24/7 technical support to reduce operational risks and improve long-term asset reliability. The customer-focused partnership enhances renewable energy integration, energy security, and market performance while supporting Akaysha Energy’s growing utility-scale battery storage portfolio across Australia.
CPS Energy and OCI Energy Break Ground on 120MW Texas Battery Project
CPS Energy and OCI Energy have officially started construction of the 120MW/480MWh Alamo City Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Bexar County, Texas. The large-scale energy storage investment is designed to strengthen grid reliability, improve energy resilience, and support growing electricity demand in the San Antonio region. Once operational in 2027, the project will provide enough stored electricity to power approximately 30,000 homes for up to four hours during peak demand periods. The project highlights innovation in utility-scale battery storage through advanced energy management, flexible power delivery, and grid optimisation technologies. Major partners include LG Energy Solution Vertech as battery supplier, ING providing construction financing, and Elgin Power Solutions serving as EPC contractor. The customer-focused initiative supports cleaner, more reliable, and cost-effective electricity while accelerating Texas’ transition toward a more sustainable and flexible energy infrastructure.
