Energa Seeks Contractor for Hybrid Solar and Battery Projects in Poland

Energa has launched a tender to select a general contractor for new hybrid solar and battery energy storage projects in Poland. The company said the procurement process is expected to conclude in the third quarter of 2026. The projects will combine solar photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage systems aimed at improving grid stability and renewable energy integration. Energa previously secured funding for the battery facilities through a national support programme focused on strengthening Poland’s electricity storage infrastructure.  Energa said the investments form part of its wider renewable energy expansion strategy. At the end of 2025, the company exceeded 1GW of renewable installed capacity, with renewables accounting for 57 percent of its total generation portfolio. The tender highlights continued investment in hybrid renewable and storage infrastructure across Poland as the country accelerates grid modernisation, energy security and clean energy transition efforts.

Zelestra Energises 1GWh Battery Storage System in Chile

Zelestra has energised the nearly 1GWh battery energy storage system at its Aurora hybrid solar-plus-storage project in Chile’s Atacama Desert. The project combines a 220MWdc solar plant with one of Latin America’s largest battery storage systems.  Zelestra said the facility achieved its first nighttime battery discharge just 10 months after reaching financial close and is expected to begin full commercial operations in the coming weeks. The project will operate under a long-term power purchase agreement with Chilean energy company Abastible.  The Aurora project was designed to store daytime solar generation and dispatch electricity after sunset, helping improve grid flexibility and renewable energy reliability. The system was constructed by Zelestra’s in-house EPC division using 204 battery storage units.  The milestone highlights Chile’s rapid growth in large-scale battery deployment as the country expands solar-plus-storage infrastructure to reduce renewable curtailment and strengthen grid stability.

South Australia Clears 500MW Battery Project Through Environmental Review

A proposed 500MW battery energy storage system in South Australia has cleared federal environmental review under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, allowing the project to move forward without a full environmental assessment.  The Robertstown BESS project, being developed by Robertstown Project Solar Operations and backed by Revera Energy, will be built in South Australia’s Goyder region. The project will be developed in two phases of 250MW/1,000MWh each, with total planned storage capacity reaching 2GWh. The battery system will cover approximately 16.4 hectares and connect to Australia’s National Electricity Market. The development was originally linked to a planned 500MW solar project, but the solar component was shelved due to market conditions while the standalone battery project continued. The approval highlights accelerating investment in large-scale energy storage infrastructure across Australia as developers expand grid flexibility and renewable energy integration capacity.
