Casa dos Ventos, a leading renewable energy company, has selected Vestas, the global leader in wind energy solutions, to launch the 828 MW Dom Inocêncio wind complex in Piaui, Brazil.
The Dom Inocencio project will feature 184 V150-4.5 MW turbines, reinforcing more than eight years of collaboration between Casa dos Ventos and Vestas. Construction is set to begin in 2026, with commissioning expected by 2028.
Vestas said it will not only supply the turbines but also manage construction and provide operation and maintenance services for 25 years under an Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) agreement.
With a total investment exceeding BRL 5 billion, the wind complex will be among the largest in Brazil, generating enough energy to power approximately 2 million homes. The project will bolster Brazil’s energy security, increase the share of renewables in the national energy mix, and drive socio-economic development in the Piauí region. It is also expected to create over 8,500 direct and indirect jobs, stimulate local supply chains, and advance professional training in wind energy.
“Through our partnership with Vestas, we are delivering reliable and high-performance solutions for a project of this scale. This agreement demonstrates our commitment to expanding Brazil’s renewable energy matrix and supporting socio-economic development in the region,” said Lucas Araripe, Executive Director of Casa dos Ventos.
Eduardo Ricotta, President of Vestas Latin America, added: “Receiving Casa dos Ventos’ trust for a project of this magnitude is a great honor. Together, we aim to drive the energy transition, expand access to clean energy, and promote socio-economic growth in the regions where we operate.”
The Dom Inocêncio wind complex exemplifies Brazil’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development, reinforcing the country’s position as a global leader in wind power generation.
