Vestas has named Felix Henseler as its new Chief Technology and Operations Officer (CTOO), effective 1 September 2025. He will succeed Anders Nielsen, who will retire from day-to-day management by the end of the year after six years in the role. Nielsen will remain with Vestas as an advisor until year-end to ensure a smooth transition.
Felix Henseler, who most recently served as CEO of ZF Wind Power, brings extensive experience in engineering, manufacturing, and the wind energy sector. As CTOO, he will focus on ramping up onshore and offshore manufacturing and strengthening Vestas’ wind energy solutions portfolio.
Former positions
2021-2025 CEO and managing director of ZF Wind Power (BE)
2016-2021 Flender GmbH, General Manager Applications (DE)
2014-2016 Flender/Winergy, Head of Strategy and Marketing (DE)
2011-2014 Winergy, Head of Strategy and Marketing Winergy, (DE)
2004-2011 Siemens/Flender AG, various leadership roles (DE+CN)
Commenting on his appointment, Felix Henseler said he was “extremely excited and motivated” to join Vestas’ Executive Management, highlighting efficiency, competitiveness, and scalability as key priorities in the face of global geopolitical shifts.
During his tenure, Nielsen played a pivotal role in turning around Vestas’ Power Solutions segment, industrialising its manufacturing setup, and delivering key products, including the V236-15.0 MW offshore turbine. CEO Henrik Andersen praised Nielsen’s contributions and welcomed Henseler’s “wealth of industrial experience and wind energy insights.”
The leadership change follows Vestas’ 2024 decision to merge its Technology and Manufacturing organisations into Technology and Operations, aimed at increasing industrialisation and strengthening the company’s end-to-end delivery of wind energy solutions. Henseler will report directly to Andersen as part of Vestas’ Executive Management.
