Several companies and governments announced major wind energy projects with significant investments during October 2025.

India Offshore Wind Projects Launch

In October 2025, the Indian government announced plans to invite bids for offshore wind energy projects of 500 MW each in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat by February 2026. This forms part of India’s ambitious renewable energy target of 500 GW by 2030, with wind expected to contribute around 100-110 GW. Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Maharashtra are key proponents in India’s wind power expansion. The government is focusing on boosting domestic manufacturing to support this growth and is promoting repowering of older wind farms with more efficient turbines to enhance capacity.

Ireland’s Largest Onshore Wind Pipeline

At Ireland’s Wind Energy Expo 2025 in late October, officials announced the country has its largest-ever pipeline for onshore wind projects. The growth aims to support affordable electricity supply amid energy transition efforts. A newly established government-led Clearing House will accelerate offshore renewables’ development, with a large turnout of industry stakeholders underlining strong investor interest in Ireland’s wind energy sector. The expo showcased comprehensive supply-chain capacity spanning more than 100 exhibitors from Ireland and international markets, signaling robust momentum for wind infrastructure expansion.

Suzlon Group India’s Wind Orders

Suzlon Group secured multiple wind turbine orders from Oct 2024 to Oct 2025, including a 400 MW project by JSP Green Wind 1 and a 486 MW project by Torrent Power. Additionally, the company won firm orders worth 381 MW from Zelestra India and 838 MW from Tata Power Renewable Energy in mid-2025. Suzlon remains a key player in driving India’s wind energy capacity, contributing to large-scale projects and delivering turnkey power solutions, supporting India’s clean energy ambitions and expanding the country’s wind power footprint.

Major Global Offshore Wind Projects Status

Several large-scale offshore wind projects are progressing globally in 2025, including Taiwan’s Hai Long Offshore Wind Project (1 GW), UK’s Dogger Bank Wind Farm (8.1 GW planned), and Hornsea Wind Farm (6 GW planned). These projects use cutting-edge turbine technologies and represent substantial contributions to regional clean energy transitions, with completion staged through 2026-2027. They exemplify wind power’s increasing role in securing sustainable electricity supply, economic growth, and job creation across multiple countries.

France’s 1.5 GW offshore wind award

On 1 October 2025, the French government awarded the 1.5 gigawatt (GW) offshore wind farm tender to TotalEnergies for the “Centre‑Manche 2” project off the coast of Normandy. The project, located more than 40 kilometres offshore, will power over one million French homes once operational, and marks France’s largest offshore wind venture to date. It emphasises local job creation, domestic sourcing and aims to reduce electricity costs via large‑scale renewables. The awarding of this project signals a stronger push into offshore wind in France’s energy transition.

Australia’s 412 MW Goyder South Wind Farm launch

On 27 October 2025, the Australian renewables developer Neoen formally launched the 412 megawatt (MW) Goyder South Wind Farm in South Australia’s Mid North region. The wind farm comprises 75 turbines and is now the largest in South Australia as well as in Neoen’s own global portfolio. It is expected to generate about 1.5 terawatt‑hours (TWh) annually, boosting the state’s wind capacity by over 20 percent. The project enjoys long‑term power purchase agreements with major offtakers and brings regional economic benefits including creation of a national park and local investment.

Romania’s 290 MW onshore wind auction launch

On 28 October 2025, the Romanian Ministry of Energy launched its third Contracts‑for‑Difference (CfD) auction for onshore wind projects, offering a combined capacity of 290 MW. Bids are to be submitted by 14 November and successful developers will need to commission within 36 months. The maximum strike price is capped at €80 per MWh. This auction forms part of Romania’s broader strategy to accelerate renewable deployment and stabilize clean power costs, while offering support to new onshore wind capacity.
