Northern Power introduces 60-kW wind turbine for low wind conditions

Northern Power Systems, a renewable energy firm, has launched a new 60 KW permanent magnet/direct drive wind turbine, the NPS 60-24.

The unit has been specifically engineered for the Italian and other low wind regime markets and can generate up to 15 percent more energy than the NPS 60-23.

The improved features includes, redesigned blade and rotor enabling maximum annual energy production (AEP), 30 percent smaller nacelle and a tower configuration providing further operating efficiencies.

Currently, the NPS 60-24 is available in Italy only. It has been designed to meet government regulations to optimize revenue generating capabilities for owners.

Moreover, locally based service teams ensure with reliability as these new turbines are added to Northern Power Systems’ global fleet of 100kW and 60kW turbines.

With over 99 percent grid-connected median availability and zero incidents the fleet has surpassed 5 million run time hours, since 2008.
