Yingli Green Energy announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Yingli China has completed a 50 MW “Top Runner” solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Datong City, Shanxi Province, China.

The project, selected as part of the “Top Runner” program of China’s National Energy Administration (NEA), was connected it to the grid by the end of June 2016. Yingli China was selected for the project in July 2015.

The PV project is located in the coal-mining subsidence areas in Datong, Shanxi Province, which is the first National Advanced PV Technology Demonstration Base, Yingli China said.

The project utilized Yingli’s TwinMAX 60 Cell bifacial series module, a frameless dual glass module that integrates Yingli’s PANDA (n-type monocrystalline solar cell) technology which leads to a module efficiency of up to 18.8 percent.

The project is expected to generate over 80 GWh of solar power per year, which is enough to power approximately 37 thousand typical households.

“We are honored to complete the 50 MW ‘Top Runner’ project and utilize our TwinMAX bifacial series module in the project, which required a high standard for power output and quality,” said Liansheng Miao, chairman and chief executive officer of Yingli.
