Trina Solar’s certification of its Yiwu manufacturing facility as a Zero Carbon Factory marks a significant achievement in the photovoltaic (PV) industry.
Being the first factory in the PV industry to receive this recognition from an independent agency highlights Trina Solar’s commitment to sustainable development and zero carbon practices.
The assessment of Trina Solar’s Yiwu factory by TiGroup, a specialized certification body, resulted in an impressive overall score of 79.68 out of 80 for 2022. This recognition earned the factory the Zero Carbon Factory (Type 1) Certificate, which is acknowledged by the China Energy Conservation Association. The certification validates Trina Solar’s efforts and showcases its leadership in implementing sustainable practices within the industry.
One of the key achievements highlighted by Trina Solar is the reduction of carbon emissions per unit output by 21.77 percent in 2022 compared to 2021. Additionally, the factory achieved a 9.51 percent decrease in power consumption per unit product.
These improvements can be attributed to Trina Solar’s comprehensive and sustainable supply chain, which includes factors such as product design, energy management, and intelligent system optimization. By focusing on these areas, Trina Solar demonstrates its commitment to reducing its environmental impact throughout the entire production process.
The Yiwu factory serves as the primary manufacturing facility for Trina Solar’s Vertex S product line, specifically designed for rooftop applications in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The use of 210mm silicon wafers in the Vertex S series enables higher efficiency and power output, making it compatible with mainstream inverters and mounting systems. This product line aligns with Trina Solar’s mission of providing cleaner and greener energy solutions to a wide range of customers.
Trina Solar’s commitment to sustainable development extends beyond its manufacturing practices. The company emphasizes continuous improvement and innovation to further reduce emissions, protect the environment, and contribute positively to communities worldwide. This commitment is echoed by Helena Li, President of Global Solar Product Business Group at Trina Solar, who emphasizes the company’s dedication to sustainable manufacturing and its goal of creating a more sustainable Trina Solar ecosystem.
In addition to the Zero Carbon Factory certification, Trina Solar’s 210mm Vertex modules received a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) certificate from TÜV Rhineland in Germany. This recognition further demonstrates the company’s leadership in low carbon emissions during the manufacturing process. Trina Solar’s commitment to sustainability is not only reflected in its operations but also in its products, ensuring that its entire range of modules contributes to a more sustainable energy landscape.
Overall, Trina Solar’s certification of its Yiwu manufacturing facility as a Zero Carbon Factory, along with the recognition for low carbon emissions in its product range, reinforces the company’s position as a sustainability leader in the PV industry. Through its innovative practices, Trina Solar sets an example for other manufacturers to prioritize sustainable development, reduce emissions, and work towards a greener future.
