Trina Solar has initiated a proposal to develop 300-megawatt distributed generation (DG) solar power and related projects at Hefei in Anhui Province of China.

The Chinese solar module manufacturer has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the administrative committee of the Hefei Xinzhan General Pilot Zone for the project.

According to the proposal, a 30-megawatt commercial rooftop project will be developed in the first phase. Trina plans to begin the first-phase installation in the second quarter this year.

It will be the largest single-unit commercial rooftop project in China when completed, according to a statement.

Xinzhan General Pilot Zone is a photovoltaic development hotbed in Hefei city. And support from the local government is expected to help Trina Solar in its future ventures.

Jifan Gao, the chairman and CEO of Trina Solar has said that the project if approved would be the first in DG solar for the company this year.

“China’s ongoing efforts to promote clean energy with supportive policies and reinforcement of the DG solar power projects development have resulted in increasing awareness and recognition in the market for DG solar power projects. We are excited and ready to work for DG solar power development in China,” he added.
