Motech Americas, a Delaware-based subsidiary of Motech Industries, announced it is installing 1,430 of its 300-watt solar panels at a Landover, MD baking facility.

The system, being used at ‘GoldCrust Baking,’ began construction in the fourth quarter 2013 and will be fully operational in 2014, the company said.

The installation will provide GoldCrust with 545,000 kwh’s of clean electricity annually, and more than 10.3Mill kwh’s over the term of the Power Purchase Agreement, said Dave Holleran, senior manager of Module Sales for Motech Americas.

“And, with the panels’ proven record of efficiency and long-term reliability, the savings are sure to offer GoldCrust and their surrounding communities many years of satisfaction,” Holleran added.

The system is expected to bring savings of $250,000 in electricity costs and contribute to the elimination of 869,000 lbs. of CO2 emission annually.

GoldCrust is purchasing wind-generated electricity from a third party supplier. As their business expanded, they wanted to remain responsible and sustainable, so they turned to on-site solar PV generation on their large, flat roof.

However, GoldCrust did not want to spend their time, capital or resources developing their own solar PV system. With this in mind, SolarSense was brought in to develop, finance, construct, own and operate the Solar PV System on the Power Purchase Agreement basis, the company said.
