Longroad Energy, a U.S.-based renewable energy developer, announced the sale of its Foxhound Solar project in Halifax County, Virginia, generating 108 MWdc (83 MWac), to Dominion Energy.
This project has been in the works for six years and will generate enough clean energy to power over 17,000 households. The Foxhound acquisition’s financial close is expected to happen when the project is mechanically complete, which is predicted to occur in January 2024.
The Foxhound project has Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
First Solar is providing Series 6+ solar modules for Foxhound. Nextracker is supplying the project with trackers, and TMEIC is providing the solar inverters.
The project will interconnect near the Clover Power Station, and during peak construction, it is expected to employ between 150-200 workers.
Longroad engaged a third party to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Foxhound to accurately measure the carbon and greenhouse gas effects of the project. According to the independent analysis, the project will reduce roughly 45,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year, equivalent to removing over 10,000 vehicles from the road annually for the project’s operational lifespan.
