The City of Waterford unveiled its solar power and energy efficiency program at Waterford City Hall. OpTerra Energy have designed, managed and delivered this comprehensive energy program.
The event has been organized with the aim of reducing City’s energy usage that will generate $2.3 million in tax savings over a 25-year lifespan of the program.
With this single, comprehensive program, the City of Waterford has forwarded in a number of ways and accomplished many long held goals that will benefit taxpayers and local economy, said, Charlie Goeken, mayor, Waterford.
It has been established to the broader business community that Waterford is a city that supports economic development through innovation and creative public-private partnerships. Besides, it has demonstrated the commitment of authority to local taxpayers on working hard to protect their hard earned dollars, added, Goeken.
During the event, various programs were highlighted like solar installations at the City’s civic and community centers, modernization of the wastewater treatment facility and retrofitting of 381 streetlights to energy-efficient LED lighting technology that will lessen the utility costs and beautify the district by providing sufficient lighting for safety and visibility.
The City is developing an energy sustainability model for other Central Valley cities interested in creative solutions to lowering energy consumption while saving their local taxpayers millions of dollars in the process. This program is really an example of how partnership and innovation can deliver a brighter future to all Californians, explained, John Mahoney, CEO, OpTerra.
In addition, OpTerra participated in City of Waterford’s Heritage Fair, creating an educational game space to demonstrate the fundamental technologies behind solar photovoltaic and LED lighting.
