BYD signs solar panel and battery deal with Strata Solar

Strata Solar, a leading solar firm in America, has signed a partnership with BYD, to offer 160 MW solar panels to BYD.

BYD has made a strong entrance to the North, Central and South American markets with their battery electric buses, and lineup of automobiles.

Both companies also agreed to work together to implement BYD’s world leading battery technology into a series of Strata Solar’s utility farm projects in order to maximize production and efficiencies.

America is a very important market for solar energy and energy storage solutions, and BYD’s world leading products are rapidly gaining US market share, said Chuanfu Wang, the chairman of BYD.

“Strata and BYD have been working on a series of interesting models for the utilization of BYD storage solutions in several upcoming Strata projects which we are very excited to be a participating in,” Wang said.

BYD offers a wide range of products and services among which their battery technologies has emerged as an industry standard for electric vehicles, handsets and energy producers.

Markus Wilhelm, Strata Solar’s CEO, said, “Strata’s unique and rapidly growing utility scale solar business will provide BYD with a large and scalable platform for their current and new technology.”

Strata Solar will complete nearly 200 MW’s of solar across 30 installations in 2013. Strata will add 300 – 400 MW’s in 2014 and has a pipeline of 1.5 gigawatts.
