RWE has strengthened its position as one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies in the first half of 2025, advancing its clean energy build-out while maintaining strong earnings momentum.
The company commissioned 700 megawatts (MW) of new onshore wind farms, solar plants, and battery storage systems in the first six months alone, contributing to a total of 2.1 gigawatts (GW) of additional capacity since June 2024. RWE now operates a robust integrated portfolio of 38.4 GW, spanning renewables, batteries, and flexible generation assets.
Looking ahead, RWE has an impressive 11.2 GW of capacity under construction, with more than 3 GW expected to come online in the second half of 2025. This rapid expansion underlines its commitment to value-accretive growth, with a long-term ambition to nearly double adjusted earnings per share to €4 by 2030.
The Onshore Wind/Solar segment delivered a year-on-year EBITDA increase from €730 million to €830 million, with gains from newly commissioned assets offsetting weaker European wind conditions. In Offshore Wind, lower wind speeds and reduced forward sales income compared to 2024 led to EBITDA of €643 million, down from €828 million, but the segment remains central to RWE’s long-term growth.
In total, RWE posted adjusted EBITDA of €2.1 billion and adjusted net income of €0.8 billion in the first half of 2025, already achieving half of its €2.10 earnings-per-share target for the year.
The company invested €2.5 billion net during the period — part of a planned €7 billion for the year — channelled primarily into expanding renewable generation. Notably, RWE monetised stakes in major offshore wind projects Thor and Nordseecluster to Norges Bank Investment Management, freeing up capital for further clean energy deployment.
CEO Markus Krebber emphasised that the company remains on track to deliver its 2025 guidance and confirmed a dividend target of €1.20 per share, highlighting that RWE’s renewable growth pipeline will be the key driver for future earnings.
