In a strategic move towards sustainability, Ambuja Cements unveiled plans on Monday to infuse Rs 6,000 crore into renewable power initiatives.

Ambuja Cements aims to internally fund this investment, directing it towards establishing a robust capacity of 1,000 megawatts (MW) via solar and wind power projects in the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. This ambitious endeavor was confirmed by the Adani Group company in an exchange filing.

Ambuja Cements has set its sights on achieving this targeted capacity from solar and wind power projects by the fiscal year 2025-2026. Presently, the company boasts an operational capacity of 84 MW in the realm of renewable energy projects.

This significant announcement closely follows Ambuja Cements’ recent investment of Rs 5,185 crore in acquiring a majority stake in Sanghi Industries earlier this month. The company’s dual investments underscore its commitment to diversifying its portfolio and embracing sustainable energy solutions amidst an evolving industrial landscape.
