Purestream Technology deploys second water treatment pilot in Alberta

By
Greentech Lead Team:

Purestream Technology has started a pilot project in Strathmore, Alberta using
its AVARA System to treat produced water from oil and gas operations in the
Manville Sandstones of Southern Saskatchewan.

“We are
excited about this pilot project and the potential to treat and recycle water
for oil and gas operations in Saskatchewan and elsewhere in Canada. Our
AVARA technology is uniquely capable of helping producers across Canada meet
increasingly stringent environmental requirements,” said Neil Richardson,
CEO, Purestream.

Purestream
is demonstrating its ability to treat and recycle water for potential future
use in enhanced gas recovery in the Manville and for hydraulic fracturing in
the Saskatchewan portion of the Bakken Shale.

Purestream’s
AVARA System was developed in partnership with Utah State University’s Energy
and Space Dynamics Labs. The AVARA System can treat water with a broad range of
characteristics and allow for beneficial reuse. By using an accelerated vapor
recompression process, the system removes harmful contaminants from wastewater
and delivers cleaner than drinking water.

In another
related industrial development, Honeywell received
a 15-year, $88.6-million contract to completely overhaul the
technology controlling the massive wastewater treatment system in Los
Angeles
